The Conference and Expo Devoted to Open Source Asterisk will Bring Hundreds of Asterisk Developers, Integrators, Resellers, Telephony Enthusiasts and Business Users to Glendale, Ariz.
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., March 31, 2016 – Digium, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, has kicked off planning for AstriCon 2016, the Asterisk Open Source Conference and Exhibition. The event, now in its 13th year, will be held in Glendale, Ariz., Sept. 27-29, 2016, at the Glendale Renaissance Hotel & Spa. Digium is the creator and corporate sponsor of the Asterisk project, the most widely used open source platform for creating custom communications solutions. Call for Speakers is now open; conference organizers are soliciting talk concepts for 2016. Digium invites those who would like to speak at AstriCon 2016 to submit information for consideration by May 1, 2016, via this speaking submission link.
With nearly 2 million downloads per year, millions of deployments, and a community of more than 80,000 members, the acceptance and growth of Asterisk has spawned an ecosystem spanning more than 170 countries. AstriCon gives all members of the Asterisk community – from telephony enthusiasts to businesses – a forum to learn about the technology. Asterisk integrators and business end-users can expect to hear the latest Asterisk news and project updates, gain access to in-depth technical sessions, participate in networking opportunities, meet potential collaborators and review and discuss detailed case studies of Asterisk projects.
Using Asterisk, developers and other technical professionals are able to build solutions such as IP PBXs, Voice over IP (VoIP) gateways, interactive voice response (IVR) systems, conference bridges, voicemail servers and more. Asterisk also forms the basis for Digium’s award-winning Switchvox Unified Communications (UC) system, available for on-premises and cloud-based deployments. Switchvox offers advanced business phone system features in a cost-effective, easy-to-use solution that scales as companies grow.
“AstriCon is absolutely the most important event of the year for Asterisk enthusiasts and last year proved beyond any doubt that there is still a huge appetite in the community to get together for learning, sharing, socializing and fun,” said David Duffett, worldwide community director for the Asterisk open source project. “This year’s event in Glendale, Ariz., is going to be even more packed with great talks, demos and exhibitors from the Asterisk community and business ecosystem.
“AstriCon has always attracted people from other projects, and we have been happy to include talks from them, but this year we are actively encouraging their contributions – so expect to see talks about Kamailio, FreeSwitch, OpenSIPS and FreePBX in addition to all that great Asterisk content.”
Digium is once again pleased to partner with Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) to promote the event to a broader audience. TMC has helped support other Digium events, including Asterisk World, and with training sessions, video production, attendee registration and exhibit management. Companies interested in sponsoring AstriCon 2016 and participating on the EXPO floor should contact Joe Fabiano at TMC: +1 (203) 852-6800, ext. 132.
